The Moscow Mule is a classic long drink created originally as a marketing tool to sell Ginger Beer and Vodka. A magical combination of flavours has allowed it to survive the test of time. This drink is the beginning of the end or an example of how commercial pressures can result in excellent drinks, depending on your point of view! As with any Mule, quality Ginger Beer must be used, ensuring the result has a spicy kick. The gentler flavour of Ginger Ale is no substitute.
2 shots of Vodka
0.5 shots of Lime Juice
3 dashes of Old Fashioned Bitters
Top up with Ginger Beer
Build the cocktail in the glass over lots of ice, add all of the ingredients and stir.
Serve in a Collins glass and garnish with a lime wedge.
A lime wedge is the garnish in the top of the Moscow Mule cocktail.

Although its usually convenient to pour a Mule in a Collins glass, a copper mug was the traditional way to serve this excellent cocktail. Mule Mugs can be picked up at a reasonable price on eBay.
Fill the glass to the top with ice.
Measure 0.5 shots of Lime Juice and add to the glass.
Add 3 dashes of Old Fashioned Bitters to the glass.
Top up the glass with Ginger Beer.
Gently stir.
Taste the cocktail and if necessary adjust the balance with a touch of extra sugar or citrus juice.
Garnish the cocktail with a lime wedge.
